The Finished Room was founded in 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia by interior designer and retired attorney Susan Lieppe. She Initially offered fine furniture, decor and accessories, but only to The Trade. A retail division was created in 2015 to offer home goods, personal care products and appliances to all shoppers.
